Examples of male plastic surgery done right? especially celebs?

Posted by Tisa Delillo on Wednesday, June 12, 2024

Who are they?

usually plastic surgery on guys just looks fucked up (see classic examples Michael Jackson, Kenny Rogers and Mickey Rourke. It's really hard to do it without making them look too feminine

so DL who's had the best nose jobs and other facial work of the men?

by Anonymousreply 147March 20, 2022 10:10 PM

If Robert Downey Jr. had work done, and I assume he has, then I vote for him, because he still looks like himself.

by Anonymousreply 4February 19, 2022 11:39 PM

All male stars have had plastic surgery by the age of 40.

by Anonymousreply 6February 19, 2022 11:41 PM

Jake Gyllenhaal's nose job. Great work.

by Anonymousreply 14February 19, 2022 11:59 PM

At least Burt still had wrinkles, though. That fake chubby, waxy, smooth filler face is worse in my opinion.

by Anonymousreply 15February 20, 2022 12:00 AM

MEN? Only the dude from Blue Valentine. Thats its.

Surgery does not work on men.

And regarding Jeff Bridges- the hottest man I have ever seen was Jeff Bridges in Starman and Against All Odds.

I am nearly 44- and Jeff Bridges is the HOTTEST. My mom forced me to watch that film with Sally Field/him/James Caan when I was a little boy- and I knew it then. The eternal fox. Even up until Fearless,

by Anonymousreply 16February 20, 2022 12:04 AM

Jeff Bridges was the hottest piece of fuck meat on 2 legs. I'd still fuck and suck him.

by Anonymousreply 17February 20, 2022 12:05 AM

Yes, R16, shirtless Jeff in Against All Odds has been making me 🍆💦💦💦💦 since 1984.

by Anonymousreply 19February 20, 2022 12:07 AM

Is Paul Rudd the gold standard?

by Anonymousreply 20February 20, 2022 12:07 AM

Yes, Rudd has had excellent work.

by Anonymousreply 21February 20, 2022 12:09 AM

Useless without before and after pics.

by Anonymousreply 22February 20, 2022 12:12 AM

R19- OH GOD! That hair, those eyes...

And he doesn't even have great bulge

He is simply fucking STUNNING

Jeff Bridges for ever

by Anonymousreply 24February 20, 2022 12:12 AM

R23- Jeff Bridges lover.

Thats when I meant above!

Good taste. Thats it!

by Anonymousreply 25February 20, 2022 12:13 AM

Men should only get work done on the lower face. Eye and nose jobs rarely look good on men.

by Anonymousreply 26February 20, 2022 12:16 AM

Walter Matthau. You could barely tell.

by Anonymousreply 27February 20, 2022 12:17 AM

Jeff Bridges is bisexual.

by Anonymousreply 28February 20, 2022 12:19 AM

Really, R28? First I heard of that but that's pleasant to contemplate Jeff giving or taking it.

by Anonymousreply 30February 20, 2022 12:23 AM

by Anonymousreply 31February 20, 2022 12:25 AM

by Anonymousreply 39February 20, 2022 12:37 AM

R54 Fascinating contribution

by Anonymousreply 55February 20, 2022 1:10 AM

R31, I think you might be referring to brow lifts, which are almost never a good idea on a man. A brow lift is the procedure that gives that fake, surprised look, and it's usually very obvious on a man. However, a well done blepharoplasty is one of the most effective procedures to reduce the look of aging. I've had my uppers and lowers done. The doctor removed a tiny sliver of skin on top, so the skin still rests on the upper lid, and he flattened out underneath. It's looked amazing for eight years.

I think you do have to be willing to spend more money, travel, if necessary (not 5,000 miles, but maybe to a larger city if you live in a smaller town).

Yes, I think you do have to be more skeptical, e.g., re: the healing time. You also have to calibrate your expectations.

For men, I also think you have to be make small and subtle changes.

I'm also shocked at Biden's surgery and his hair as well.

Ryan Gosling. Nose. Straightened out and completely overhauled. The nostrils are much more visible now (nose tip raised). I would say he also had a subtle lift on his upper eyelids.

by Anonymousreply 69February 20, 2022 3:31 AM

R69, Gosling looked cuter before...in my opinion.

by Anonymousreply 71February 20, 2022 3:48 AM

R71, I can see preferring Gosling before plastic surgery (looked way more masculine before). But I think he did make his looks more conducive to an acting career. Also, IMO, he didn't go TOO far. The nose job is borderline. He should leave it alone at this point.

by Anonymousreply 73February 20, 2022 3:53 AM

Gosling was better before. No argument. Now his face is ersatz handsome. Probably necessary for the low brow tastes of motion picture audiences.

by Anonymousreply 75February 20, 2022 4:05 AM

George Clooney had nice work keeping things fresh and handsome.

Jeff Goldblum looks fantastic for his age (69). Beter now than when he started out in his career in acting.

by Anonymousreply 79February 20, 2022 4:18 AM

R56. I agree. I had my eyes done when I was 50, upper and lower, and no one knew any different. It was subtle. I went to a board certified surgeon who was an ophthalmologist and did nothing but eyes. I told him if he made me look like Kenny Rogers I’d kick him in the nuts.

by Anonymousreply 81February 20, 2022 4:28 AM

Joe Biden had some of the worst. I can see his white facelift scars every time he turns to the side.

by Anonymousreply 85February 20, 2022 11:29 AM

Anybody over 50 who doesn't have saggy skin, who has a defined jawline and no hangdog look.

Successful plastic surgery is harder to identify than surgery gone wrong, but the bottom line is that all people age. It's biology. It's physiology. It's the effect of time.

We all look notably different at ages one, four, 13, 20 and 35, and *aging does not stop for anyone at age 35.* We all continue to get older.

We should all know this innately.

Yet the majority of people seem eager to be fooled by 'ageless' celebrities. Psychologically, it's nothing more than buying into a social caste system. People naturally have an inclination to worship certain people, and they come up for justifications for doing so. Money and influential jobs/roles in society are the two big obvious ones. Beauty is the other, and it is assigned monetary value although we generally pretend it is not. And then this whole 'ageless celebrities' thing is a psychological way of giving into magical beliefs; it's a modern way of believing some people have innate superhuman powers to defy nature, and it's also a subconscious way to worship money, as it takes a lot of disposable income to be 'naturally ageless.'

by Anonymousreply 87February 20, 2022 12:36 PM

Based on r83's pic Brad has had work, it's just been a few years and doesn't look so obvious anymore. This is him in 2016 and you can tell he looks less jowly and with less saggy eyelids in r83 than he did back in 2016.

I think most of the examples provided in this thread have NOT had anything done. Men age best by staying fit- same weight. Essentially the same is true of women although good make up combined with careful cosmetic procedures can be effective. Makeup on a man looks ridiculous.

Gary Cole (pic from Jan 2022, 65yo) has high, jutting cheekbones. Cheek implants/ filler/ plumper? Or just too much bronzer/ contouring? R90 All men on screen have makeup on.

He clearly didn't do anything about his forehead and other wrinkles. A full beard helps with the illusion of more cheekbones of course. Could also be he is aging and wizening up like a skeleton since he's quite skinny. Works well for him.

I saw Ryan Phillipe in an obscure comedy the other day (can’t remember the name of it.) I had trouble recognizing him at first. He has gotten eye work done. And while it was not over the top, it changed his looks quite a lot imo. I’m trying to find a picture I can post.

by Anonymousreply 94February 20, 2022 4:07 PM

This was the best picture I could find of Ryan P. He just looks very different to me. Part of it is some weight gain that went straight to his face as well.

R95 I noticed his eyelid surgery four or five years ago and have posted about it and the facial fillers, but years ago, most guys here just insisted that he is 'ageless.' I find that so silly.

It wasn't until new outtakes from his People's sexiest photoshoot came out that a lot of DLers finally said "eek."

At the same time, the impressive dick pics and videos do make up for his self-mutilation IMO.

by Anonymousreply 96February 20, 2022 4:22 PM

Here's a photo I shared a couple of years ago comparing Ryan's eyes before and after surgery.

His eyes used to be lidded. He had the 'wide awake' treatment to make the upper crease stronger and it made his eyes look subtly strange in the same way Renée Zellweger's surgery did to her. The eyes themselves are not strange looking, but it make both of them not look exactly like themselves.

by Anonymousreply 116February 20, 2022 8:17 PM

r116 Pretty much actors over 40 with very thick hair are wearing some sort of hairpiece. If you're a man, you know the hair starts thinning in your early 20s and either stabilizes, or falls out slowly or quickly. Hair transplants in real life can help but they don't give you insane thick coverage that looks thick on screen or in photos.

My advice: Look for the crazy thick hair on screen and work backwards--Look at photos of their hairlines 10-15 yrs ago.

by Anonymousreply 117February 20, 2022 9:42 PM

The secrets r61 are manage your own expectations, to interview a number or surgeons, find one who specializes in men and understands how different doing surgery on men is from women. I had five or six consultations with my surgeon, Dr. Steven Pearlman in NYC. He said I could come talk about it as many times as I wanted to. He does very conservative work. We talked a lot about men's faces, and we studied examples of men in GQ and online. He went into detail about the angles on a man's face, and what does and does not work on men, and what he would and would not do on a man. For instance he said he never does brow lifts on men, because it feminizes a man's face. We looked at examples of good work on patients of his, and bad work on men he did not do.

He did a revision rhinoplasty on me, restoring some of the cartilage the surgeon who worked on my nose in 1990 had taken out, giving my nose more strength and character, but still keeping it refined. He also did upper and lower blepharoplasty on me. He hadn't wanted to do the uppers at all, saying that I didn't really need it. I told him I only wanted a tiny sliver of skin removed, and when he realized my expectations were normal, he did it, leaving enough skin on top so that there is still skin resting on my upper lid. I was thrilled with the results with how natural the results are. The eyes definitely made me look younger. And yes, I know the cunts on here are going to say that only I think they're natural. But they are.

by Anonymousreply 122March 20, 2022 2:31 AM

by Anonymousreply 123March 20, 2022 3:02 AM

The majority of male celebrities who aren’t romcom lead types do not get work done. If they do, like a poster above said, it’s OBVIOUS. Surgery doesn’t work on men.

by Anonymousreply 125March 20, 2022 3:11 AM

Thick hair over 40 isn't universally a sign of having work done. Mine is still thick enough at 52 that I have to keep it trim or it looks like a ragged mop. (An annoyance, but I'd rather that than pattern baldness.) And my hairline has never changed, only the color has.

by Anonymousreply 133March 20, 2022 9:33 AM

I feel sorry for the anonymous poster who is up in the middle of the night on Saturday/Sunday obsessively posting new threads and commenting on existing ones about male plastic surgery.

You can't fight age, OP. It's a force of nature like a glacier, a tsunami, a volcano, time. We all get old. You can't predict how your face and body will react to surgical 'enhancements.' There's no such thing as 'the best' surgeon who makes everyone look great. The same surgeon can cut and paste one person who ends up looking gorgeous and another who heals strangely and ends up looking mutilated and disfigured. Do yourself a favor and think of the old people in your family who you cared about growing up and accept that you are turning into one of them. It's OK. You can't be age five or age 10 forever and you can't be age 25 forever.

by Anonymousreply 134March 20, 2022 10:39 AM

I think some of these male celebrities are trying to have surgery to outwork unhealthy lifestyle choices too. Aging is one thing, but a lot of these guys smoke, drink, have bad diets, and chase after women in their 20s-30s and that's why they start looking haggard.
